Anti-racism and Society II
The aim of this course is to discuss anti-racist practices as a path to a more just society. To this end, we will discuss racism based on the reality of Brazilian society, look at the historical aspects of the relationship between slavery and racism, and reflect on how structural racism affects more than half of the Brazilian population. The course is based on the reading and discussion of the book Pequeno Manual Antiracista (‘Small Manual for Antiracism’) by the Brazilian philosopher Djamila Ribeiro. The methodology also includes the translation of individual chapters of the book into German. (Authorized by the publisher)
This means that students from all courses can take part in the course, provided they understand Portuguese and German.
